 •   December 5:Time Out Tasting featuring wines from Robert Kacher Selections

 
Sud de France, in association with Time Out New York Magazine, will host a tasting of Robert Kacher Selections’ wines from the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Antoine Songy, the president of Robert Kacher Selections will present Sud de France wines at the exclusive soiree, held at Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon.  Intended for journalists, sommeliers, buyers, and winners of Time Out New York’s contest, the tasting is an excellent way to educate and showcase Sud de France wines.

The Sud de France brand, in association with Time Out New York Magazine, will host a wine tasting on November 7th.  Michel Abood, President of Vinotas Selections, will discuss and taste four of his wines with attendees.  With a targeted audience of journalists, sommeliers, wine buyers and winners of a contest in Time Out New York, this tasting will be an excellent way to educate individuals on Sud de France wines.

•   November 1: Seminar "EYES" software solution from Atonis Technologies

On November 1st, Atonis Technologies will conduct a seminar at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon in order to present the software “Eyes” to American clients.  Throughout the day, current and future clients will have the opportunity to discover the software through demonstrations and individual meetings with members of the Atonis Technologies team.  This digital search engine was created in the Languedoc-Roussillon region by Atonis, a company based in Nîmes, France.   

•   October 25: Roussillon Tasting with the CIVR

On Tuesday, October 25th, professionals will have the opportunity to discover wines that have unique French Catalan charm with a tasting of wines from the Roussillon.  Held from 1PM-6PM at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon, this tasting will include a variety of wines exclusively from the Roussillon, known for their excellent price-quality ratio, and for the large number of unique terroirs.  The Roussillon region of France benefits from a Mediterranean climate, meaning lots of sunshine and sea breezes.  Working in partnership with the Conseil Intérprofessionnel des Vins du Roussillon (CIVR), Sud de France Développement is pleased to feature 160 wines from this region, which is receiving much deserved attention (NY Times Article). This tasting is open to wine trade and press only.  

 

 

 

•   October 20: Languedoc wine tasting with Producer Michael Belanger

On October 20th at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon, wine producer Michael Belanger will present a class on wines of the region.  The guests will include members of the Canadian Club, a cultural organization that brings together members of the Canadian community in New York.  They will have the opportunity to taste wines and to discover the unique Languedoc-Roussillon region.  Such an event provides Sud de France Développement with the opportunity to present the region, the wines, and mission of the brand to a new audience of consumers. 

•   October 11: Time Out Tasting featuring wines from The Domaines Paul Mas

The Sud de France brand, in association with Time Out New York Magazine, will host a wine tasting on October 11th.  Jean-Claude Mas, producer at Domaines Paul Mas in Montagnac, Languedoc-Roussillon, will be present for this occasion.  He will discuss and taste five of his wines with attendees.  With a targeted audience of journalists, sommeliers, wine buyers and winners of a contest in Time Out New York, this tasting will be an excellent way to educate individuals on Sud de France wines.

•   October 3: Gilles Louvet Porfolio Tasting

Laura Bret, US brand ambassador for Gilles Louvet, in partnership with Sud de France, will organize the first Gilles Louvet portfolio tasting in the US.  Held at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon in New York, all wines present will be organic.  On this occasion, journalists and buyers (restaurants and wine stores interested in organic wines) will come to taste the 11 wines available on the US market.  With the support of Sud de France Développement, Gilles Louvet Vineyars will benefit from increased visibility and the opportunity to engage with new clients in New York.

•    September 12: Top-Scoring Wine Tasting

On September 12 at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon, the best-rated wines of the region (Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator) were presented to American wine buyers.  From 10AM to 6PM, the Sud de France team led this tasting of more than 60 wines from the region. This kind of event allows for increased recognition of the wines from the Languedoc-Roussillon region in the NY market. This event was a great opportunity for the Sud de France brand to present the wines of the region to members of the wine industry. Wine buyers, sommeliers, wine store and restaurant owners and journalists came to discover new products during the busy fall tasting season.

 

Kim Markus, wine critic from Wine Spectator came to taste some of the wines, including those that he scored!

 

•    May 23: Time Out Tasting Featuring Gabriella Wines

With the Sud de France Festival just around the corner, this Time Out tasting will be held on May 23 at the Maison de la region Languedoc-Roussillon to open up our festive season. An event for journalists, wine buyers and sommeliers, this will also be one more chance for Time Out readers to win 2 spots to taste Sud de France Wines. A presentation by Jacques Azoulay – president of Gabriella Wines, wine importee– will be a great opportunity for the attendees to taste and learn more about the wines from the region.

•    May 12: Earth Day New York Event

As a region invested in organic and sustainable agriculture, the Languedoc-Roussillon partners with Earth Day New York to welcome and thank the organization’s volunteers during an evening at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon on May 12.  Earth Day New York is a non-profit which promotes ecological awareness and everyday solutions through educational programs directed toward students, professors and private companies.  This event allows Sud de France to communicate its engagement in green initiatives and to enrich its network of key consumers.

•    May 9: Regional Cheese Tasting and Wines from Languedoc-Roussillon with Fromi Group

The Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon hosted a gourmet food and cheese tasting alongside Sud de France wines. The specialties selected from the Languedoc-Roussillon region were presented by Fromi Group to their buyers coming from grocery stores and cheese shops in New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. One of the objectives for Sud de France was to make the food and wine buyers aware of the region and its diversity in terms of cheese, fine food and wines. This was an excellent opportunity for the Sud de France team to expand its networking.

The Maison de la region Languedoc-Roussillon will host on November 2nd a workshop session organized by Columbus Immigration LLC, a company dedicated to responding to the global US immigration needs of the French citizens. For two hours the clients of the company will ask questions, network and exchange about their experiences while tasting a wine from the Languedoc-Roussillon region. These kinds of events allow Sud de France the opportunity to expand its visibility in the French-American community in New York as well as develop its contacts.

•    October 5: American Sommelier Association Class

 

The Maison de la region Languedoc-Roussillon welcomed the students from the American Sommelier Association for a seminar class about the wines from Languedoc-Roussillon Region. Jared Fischer, the speaker for the event, sommelier at the restaurant Bernardin, and winner of the 2009 Sommelier Contest conducted the tasting with his selection of 12 representative wines from the region.

•    September 29: Tasting Decision News Media

In order for the company Decision News Media to develop their contacts in the US market, they decided to organize a wine-tasting class for their American clients at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon in New York. The class was hosted by Andrew Bell, the president of the American Sommelier Association. He introduced the region and presented 5 Sud de France wines. This was an excellent opportunity to develop the visibility of the region in New York.

•    September 27: "Back to School" Cocktail for Sciences Po

On September 27th, the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon hosted the back-to-school cocktail for Sciences Po with past and current students, the administrative team and professors. This gathering featuring wines from the Languedoc-Roussillon region and chocolate was a great opportunity for Sud de France to develop contacts with a well known school. 

•    September 22: Time Out Tasting with Keith Beavers

On September 22, the winners of a contest presented in Time Out Magazine, journalists from New York publications, and wine professionals gathered at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon for a wine tasting featuring a selection of wines from the region. The wines were presented by Keith Beavers, owner of the wine store Alphabet City Wine Co., the restaurant In Vino, and blogger on the widely followed East Village Wine Geek blog.  This was an excellent opportunity to educate consumers as well as professionals on Sud de France wines. 

 

 

 

 

 

•    June 21: Worldwide Synchronized Tastings for the Press

This year marked the success of a first-ever synchronized tasting, organized by Sud de France Export for the Languedoc-Roussillon region.  On June 21st, journalists in each Maison – from New York to Shanghai — were able to taste, in their respective countries, five wines that aptly captured many of the features of Sud de France wines.  For the occasion, Sud de France offices in Shanghai, London, and New York opened their doors to journalists/bloggers, and invited them to participate in the tasting. The tastings were organized and presented through video conference with the Hotel de Region in Montpellier, where producers of the featured wines were gathered, along with local journalists.

At the Maison in New York, seven American bloggers were able to converse with the wine producers about the wines being tasted, grape varietals, terroir, climate, production processes, as well as the U.S. market and consumer trends. Six other bloggers from around the country were also able to participate in the event by trying the featured wines in their homes, then posting comments on their respective blogs.

 

 


•    June 7: Organic Wine Tasting at the Maison

On June 7, eight producers from Languedoc-Roussillon came to the Maison for a wine tasting featuring 70 organic and biodynamic wines. Over 80 importers, distributors, wine merchants, sommeliers, and journalists were present. The tasting was a foray into the organic market within New York, giving producers from the region the opportunity to canvass many of the wine merchants that make up the American market, and to join and network with different distributional circuits while becoming aware of American regulatory particulars. It is worth noting that new and innovative biodynamic and organic wines have an increasing presence in the American wine market, and is certainly in great demand throughout the country. 

•    May 19: Press Conference for the Pyrénées-Orientales

A press conference was held at the Maison de la région Languedoc-Roussillon on May 19, 2010. Thirty journalists were in attendance at the event, initiated by the Committee of Regional Tourism and the Committee of State Tourism of Pyrénées-Orientales, and participated in discussion, question and answer sessions, and the screening of promotional films.  

•    May 18: Saint Bacchus: Wines of the Roussillon

50 wine professionals – sommeliers, journalists, wine merchants, and importers—gathered at the Maison de la Région du Languedoc-Roussillon to participate in a “Saint Bacchus” wine tasting that featured 185 wines from the region. The evening was an opportunity to select and share the best wines of Roussillon by appellation; and by what better a group than those present. Eleven committees were assembled, and each determined the best wine within a prescribed category. The results were revealed on June 4th in Perpignan during an evening party at the Palais des Expositions.  

•    May 12: Time Out Event with Jenny & Francois

A Time Out Magazine – Sud de France parternship tasting on April 21, 2010 featured a comprehensive presentation by André Compeyre, sommelier at Les Halles, a famed restaurant in New York. Mr.  Compeyre introduced the Languedoc Roussillon region, as well as the Sud de France label, before carefully describing each and every wine being presented. His remarks on the specific attributes of each wine, and the similarities and differences between them, were well received by the ten buyers present (restaurant representatives and wine merchants) there in preparation for the Sud de France Food and Wine Summer Festival.

•    May 10: Tasting of Top Scoring Wines at the Maison

•    May 4: Press Conference Announcing the Sud de France Festival

Fifteen New York journalists attended a press conference at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon that announced the Sud de France Food and Wine Summer Festival. The journalists were very interested in understanding how the festival would be run, and had many questions for the Sud de France team about the planned events, featured themes, and educational experiences, all of which they wanted to describe in their reporting.

•    April 21: Tasting for 5 Time Out Magazine Grand Prize Winners

A Time Out Magazine – Sud de France parternship tasting featured a comprehensive presentation by André Compeyre, sommelier at Les Halles, a famed restaurant in New York. Mr.  Compeyre introduced the Languedoc Roussillon region, as well as the Sud de France label, before carefully describing each and every wine being presented. His remarks on the specific attributes of each wine, and the similarities and differences between them, were well received by the ten buyers present (restaurant representatives and wine merchants) there in preparation for the Sud de France Food and Wine Summer Festival. 

•    April 20: Introducing the American Market to LR Producers

A tasting was held at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon, one that featured the wines of twelve producers from the region, some of whom were on site for the event! Attended by importers and wine buyers alike, the tasting featured a few informative presentations. The Sud de France team explained the Maison’s aim and objectives, and Andrew Bell, President of both the American Sommelier Association and Wine Symphony Imports, provided background on the wine market in the U.S. Mr. Bell’s informative exposée was of special importance to the producers, who left the tasting with a better understanding of an international market they hoped to work within.  Throughout the tasting, producers had the opportunity to speak with and request advice from Mr. Bell, Jenny Lefcourt of Jenny and Francois Imports, and Steve Miller, former marketing editor of Lauber, one of New York’s largest wine distributors.  

•    April 19: CIVL Tasting in partnership with Benson

The Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins du Languedoc (CIVL) organized a tasting at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon to introduce 26 domaines from the Langueodc. Importers, sommeliers and wine buyers were presented good value wines, in time for the Festival Sud de France which will take place in June and July.

•    March 31: Time Out Event for Five Grand Prize Winners

This tasting was organized for 10 grand prize winners from Time Out, journalists and wine buyers. Bradley Cohen, from Bradley Alan Imports, presented five wines from his portfolio after a short introduction of the Languedoc-Roussillon by Jamal Rayyis.

•    March 22: Best Value Tasting at the Maison (for press and trade professionals)

This afternoon was dedicated to wines that offer a great value under $20. 105 wines were presented, including reds, whites, rosés and muscats. 70 members of the press and trade attended this event catered by Cédric Tovar of Boulud, one of the few restaurants in New York to have earned three stars in the Michelin Guide. The guests also enjoyed music by Stéphane Wrembel, jazz-gypsy guitarist, who entertained us with four mini-concerts.
Jamal Rayyis, food and wine critic and author of wine guides for Food and Wine Magazine, introduced the region with a short seminar depicting the specificities of Languedoc-Roussillon. The walk-around tasting enabled wine buyers to meet importers and discuss eventual partnerships.


•    March 10: Time Out Event for Five Grand Prize Winners

This Time Out Event offered guests the opportunity to taste five wines from Noble House Wines, a fine wine distributor for the New York area. Five winners from Tine Out Magazine, two from French morning and members of the press enjoyed a lecture from Jamal Rayyis, food and wine author and critic, about Languedoc-Roussillon and its extensive wine selection.

•    March 1st: Rosé Tasting at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon (for press and trade professionals)

Sixty members of the press and trade gathered on March 1st to taste 80 rosés from the Languedoc-Roussillon region. The wines displayed a multitude of pink hues that were thoroughly enjoyed and pleased both the eye and the palate. The guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres from Cédric Tovar, caterer for Boulud. Daniel Boulud is one of the five restaurants in New York to have been awarded three stars by the Michelin Guide.


This event was a good opportunity for restaurants and wine stores to taste new wines in order to eventually add them to their wine lists. Wine directors and liquor store managers were able to meet importers and discuss future partnerships.

 

•    February 17: Time Out Event for Five Grand Prize Winners 

Five grand prize winners attended a tasting at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon. A representative for Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant and Jamal Rayyis, author and wine critic, presented the introduced the region and the following wines:

•    February 3: Tasting of Mas de Daumas Gassac Wines with Empire Merchants (for press and trade professionals)

The Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon hosted a tasting of Mas de Daumas Gassac wines. Jamal Rayyis, author and wine critic, presented the Languedoc-Roussillon region and Samuel and Muffi Guibert, the owners of the estate, discussed the history of the Languedoc-Roussillon region specifically pertaining to their domain, in the Haute Vallée du Gassac.  The family has made few changes to the estate and still lives where the Mas de Daumas Gassac wines are produced.

Eighty members of the press ant trade professionals enjoyed this event and the wines.



 

•    February 1: Hand Picked Selections Tasting at the Maison de la Région

In 2010, Hand Picked Selections begins its second quarter-century as America's leading importer of the wines of Languedoc and Roussillon. Three dozen wines from a region offering very distinctive wines of unreplicated quality and value were presented to the press and trade professionals. The afternoon was divided in two:

11:30 am - 12:00 pm: Seminar, Dan Kravitz, “Languedoc & Roussillon: next door neighbors, worlds apart”
12:00 - 7:00 pm: Walk-around tasting 


 

•    January 27: Time Out Event in Collaboration with Gabriella Wines

•    January 6: Time Out Event at the Maison with Sud de France Wines Supplied by Palm Bay

Five lucky Time Out readers received two spots to an exclusive Sud de France tasting held at the Maison du Languedoc-Roussillon. This evening was hosted by author and wine critic Jamal Rayyis who presented the region and the wines. Then, Adrien Fleurant from Palm Bay introduced the five wines to the guests, which included journalists and importers.

•    December 15: Christmas Party: Alliance Française – Sud de France
The Alliance Française hosted its Christmas Party at the Maison de la Languedoc-Roussillon, featuring wine from the region and French music.


•    December 9: Sedicom presents Roe, with special guests Eve, Fabienne Cuter and Raya

Acclaimed French musician Roé showcasing his new album Madame, with an exclusive exposition featuring three female French artists: Eve – Graphic Design, Fabienne Cuter – Painter, Sculptor and Raya – Fashion Photographer. To be followed by a cocktail reception featuring wines from Sud de France.

•    October 26/27: Organic wines tasting
Producers from the region will come present their organic and biodinamic wines to professionals of the wine industry at the Maison de la Region Languedoc-Roussillon.
•    September 15: Sud de France Sommelier Competition
10 candidates selected through a preliminary examination compete for the the title of the Best
Languedoc-Roussillon Sommelier 2009 at the Maison de la Region Languedoc-Roussillon.
Jamal Rayyis, the Sud de France wine ambassador will conduct the competition featuring a written
test and blind tasting of 6 regional wines for the top candidates. The jury is headed by Roger Dagorn, MS. Laura Maniec and Andre Compeyre are also part of the jury. The grand prize, a trip for 2 to Sud de France will be redeemed via Sud de France Export/Maison de la Region Languedoc Roussillon.



•    July 13: Top Scoring wines tasting
On July 13th, The Maison de la Region Languedoc Roussillon in New York organized a top scoring wines of Languedoc-Roussillon tasting including a tasting of 6 wines led by Jamal Rayyis, wine writer and critic.


•    March 16: Roses wines tasting
On March 16th the Maison de la Region Languedoc Roussillon in New York welcomed importers, distributors, retailers and media to discover the great range of Roses wines the region produces and let them prepare for the summer.

•    April 13: Official Inauguration
A french delegation with the President of the Region Languedoc Roussillon, M. Georges Freche, the Vice-President of the Region and ex-minister of transportation, M.Jean Claude Gayssot, the President of the Gard Council, M.Damien Alary, the President of the Regional Tourism Office, M. Frederic Lopez officially inaugurated the Maison de la Region in New York.
